Moore Creek Grasshopper

Sept. 20th 2026 Register

Join us on September 20th in St. Helena, Napa County. Decades of planning, fundraising and trail building in Moore Creek Park, Lake Hennessey, and the lengendary trails at Pacific Union College in Angwin have established themselves as world class MTB destination that will thrill and challenge riders. From the picturesque Napa Valley vineyards we climb up to Angwin. Here the course twists, turns and meanders through the maze of PUC before heading over to “New” Dan’s Wild Ride. This one mile rugged volcanic and serpentine descent will challenge the most talented riders as you make your way to Moore Creek. This 39+/- Grasshopper is an XC MTB event, (The timed race section is 27 mi.) though with the right set up is rideable on a gravel bike. Proceeds of the event support the work done by Redwood Trails Alliance in Sonoma, Napa and Lake County. This event will be a timed race this year, but with 3 fully stoked aid stations it’s definitely a Hopper you can just come to ride, explore and shred!

More Info

  • Redwood Trails Alliance is a community-powered nonprofit dedicated to building, maintaining, and advocating for more trails and better trails across Sonoma, Napa, and Lake counties. Guided by our mission to create a world-class trail system that connects people with nature, we blend professional expertise with deep local passion to steward and expand the trail networks our communities rely on for recreation, health, and connection.

Our crews and volunteers maintain beloved trail systems like Trione-Annadel State Park and have built miles of high-quality singletrack at Moore Creek Park and Lake Hennessey in Napa County. In Lake County, we’ve brought new life to the trails at Boggs Mountain Demonstration Forest and are now leading exciting new trail planning efforts on Mt. Konocti and surrounding public lands near Clear Lake, opening the door to an expansive trail future in the North Bay.

Together, we’re shaping the future of trails, one mile, one park, and one community at a time.

  • Moore Creek Park, Napa Valley (St. Helena)

Set on the northeastern side of Lake Hennessey just outside St. Helena, Moore Creek Park blends oak woodlands, chaparral ridges, grassy hillsides, and shaded creek corridors into a super-scenic trail network. Expect a mix of singletrack and dirt roads with steady climbs, rolling ridge sections, and lakeside traverses, classic Napa foothill terrain. The park’s system spans ~25 miles and now connects to the Pacific Union College trail network (adding another ~35 miles nearby), creating a larger web of flowy, bike-friendly trails with big-valley views.

Venue: Wappo Park, St. Helena, CA

  • Early November at Moore Creek usually means crisp mornings, mild middays, and the possibility of a light shower. Trails are tacky and fast after a sprinkle, just watch for slick leaves, wet roots, and shaded rock, while dry spells bring firm hardpack with loose-over-hard corners. Please keep an eye on the forecast in the week leading up to the event; we’ll share any weather-related updates.
